What's happening:
LA-9 Students are continuing with their reading of Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, completing ongoing comprehension questions and engaging in discussion of the novel. We are also starting our first formal essay this week. Monday: Curious Incident reading, discussion and questions. Tuesday: Curious Incident reading, discussion and questions. Wednesday: Reading Fluency practice & Essay overview, pick your prompt, begin pre-writing. Thursday: Essay Drafting Friday: Essay Drafting Reading/Writing Lab Students continue to do the daily routine and grade check/GPA graph each week. I am impressed with many of these students' dedication and ability to effectively communicate with their teachers. We will be reviewing the November Reading Comprehension task this week and charting progress. Learning Strategies Students are continuing to complete their Daily Activity/Planning sheets and grade check/GPA graph each week. This week we will be talking about Thinking Traps, gratitude and identifying things we are grateful for. LA-10-12 Students are currently reading The Great Gatsby (Chapters 3 & 4) and completing ongoing comprehension questions and discussion. We are watching chunks of the most recent Gatsby movie as we go. This has been helpful for students to visualize what is happening the story while reading. Monday: Gatsby Ch. 3, discussion and questions. Tuesday: Gatsby Ch. 4, discussion and questions/vocabulary review (Quizlet).
